Retreat to Yelapa

Yelapa! Sunshine in the middle of winter, a charming village to explore, amazing people, delicious healthful food, and best of all, multiple focused, in-depth yoga sessions. Paradise.

A Delightful Journey

I invite you to journey to Yelapa for a week of yoga asana and pranayama and an immersion into an entirely different way of life. Yelapa, Jalisco is a 45 minute water taxi ride from Puerto Vallarta and is accessible only by boat. You will not see any cars here, as mules and burros transport goods along the cobblestone paths. Each day we awaken to the sounds of the jungle and the sea...and colorful birds gracing the open sky. An opportunity to slow down and embrace the beauty and simplicity of this pristine village awaits you!

Our home for yoga is the Pura Vida eco resort, which is located at Point Isabella, a lovely beach in Yelapa. All lodging, meals and yoga will take place here. You can view their website at https://puravidaecoretreat.com

I am returning to the Yelapa yoga retreat for the fifth time. What draws me back? Certainly the breathtaking location and lovely yoga temple; undoubtedly the deep bonding among the participants and shared fun times; and without question the incredible experience of practicing yoga twice a day under the guidance of a very kind and knowledgeable instructor. – Kelly D

I went to Yelapa with Lori's group two years in a row. It was an inspirational, fun and energizing experience both times. I loved everything about the weeks; the setting -- the Sky Temple, set in the jungle more than 100 steps up the hill with an amazing view of the Bay of Banderas , is my favorite place in the world to practice yoga -- people, accommodations, food, yoga, pacing of the activities and walks through tropical paradise. Both years I returned home feeling strong and centered. I recommend this week wholeheartedly. – Martha P

Lori is an instructor extraordinaire every minute of every class. The studio has a stellar setting in the tropical jungle with an ocean view, the food is terrific, & the accommodations charming. The facility’s owner is tightly woven into the community of Yelapa so this isn’t just another resort owned by an Anglo. The birding is astounding, the sky is brilliant blue, and one day you learn the huge iguana up in the fig tree has lived there 20 years. The beach on the Bay of Banderas is a half moon and the breezes gentle (which makes the margarita even finer). The town is car free so you arrive by boat from Puerto Vallarta. A “pie woman” sells her freshly made pies on the beach every day. - Ann W
